Darren (Lambeth Youth Mayor 2010)
Hello! I currently attend Bishop Thomas Grant School. I am involved with dance and like to express my views and feelings. As part of my nature, I like to encourage people to voice their own opinions.
As Lambeth Youth Mayor, I will not only be a person who is looked upon as a leader – I will act as a link or spokesman. I stand for equality in our society. The young people of today are looked upon as rebellious teenagers who wear black hoods and roam the streets at night. I believe that no matter what you have done in the past, you can reform and become a better person. As Lambeth Youth Mayor I hope to destroy the stereotypes around young people.
I would also like to give young people the chance to gain as many qualifications as possible. This will then help them to be more successful later on in life. I hope to achieve my goal by uniting the community. I hope to break down the barriers between young people and the police, and I would like to unite secondary school students together. As youth mayor, I will be focusing on the life of a secondary school student and try to solve the everyday problems that occur in life.
